I started as a trainee machine setter and operator in a camshaft factory having flipped burgers, dug holes and wondered what direction my life would take.
I was trained as a journal, spigot and cam grinder, making 30 parts per hour to 12-micron tolerances on semi-automatics. After proving my worth I progressed into the CNC section and never looked back.
In exchange for my hard work I got the most valuable reward. An education in a fascinating subject that to this day I am still as passionate about as that 20-year-old was back then.
I threw myself into my work and studies with aplomb, working overtime (I'd become mildly obsessed with motocross) and attending day release and night school over the next 5 years.
The knowledge became intoxicating and machining, my calling. I’ve never limited myself and gladly accepted the challenges as they arose. Having worked in most industry sectors, I have built experience, confidence and valuable knowledge that help me to succeed. I realised this was my path and one I am still walking more than 30 years later.
